Joliet has serious movie cred — most famously as the home of Old Joliet Prison, where the opening scene of The Blues Brothers (1980) was filmed when Jake Blues walks out. Today the prison is a museum, just 4 miles from Best Western Joliet Inn & Suites. Here’s how to plan your visit.
Visiting Old Joliet Prison Museum
The historic Joliet Correctional Center (1858-2002) is located at 1125 Collins Street, Joliet. Self-guided and guided tours run from April through November on weekends. From the hotel, it’s a 10-minute drive — north on Larkin, east on Cass Street.
